The Abandoned Hospital

Of course, it's bigger on the inside.

When you first walk through the door, there is a staircase straight ahead. There is a hall to the left, and a ruined wall where there was once another wing to the right.

Down the hall...who knows.

If you think you know your way around...you don't.

He lifts his arm to ward off the shots, but most of his speed has drained from his movements. The thorns make a neat row along his bicep, and he drops the board.

He steps back away from the shots fired at the ground around him, trying for another bellow, but only coming up with a groggy growl. Plastering his flesh hand across his face, he tries to shake the dizziness that's suddenly washed over him.

The floor beneath him creaks, and when he falls backwards it gives out beneath him.

Wood, and stone, and Anung Un Rama crash down and disappear into the darkness below.

Leela keeps her weapon trained on the gap on the floor beneath for a moment. It never hurts to be careful.

Then, cautiously but not slowly, she makes her way to the side of the unconscious form of Noriko.

Sariel?

Looks quite shocked for a second. That was not entirely unexpected, given the unstable nature of the floor in this hall, but all the same...

"I sincerely hope," she says a little shakily, a little breathlessly, as she makes her way as quickly as she can to Nori and Leela, "that there was no one beneath us."

That weapon was lowered at about the same time she turned away from the hole in the floor. She's reaching to tap her communicator with her free hand (ow, arm) before she realizes, and only when it's halfway to her chest does she stop herself. "Medical emergency," she says despite herself. Then, more urgently, "Is she alive?"

"I hope so as well," she says. "Though if there are, then at least we have weakened it."

She leans in closely, turns her head, and listens.

"She is still breathing. But she has not yet awakened."

If she remains unconscious for too long, then it's time to worry.

Best not get too close, Leela--

Because if you do, like you just did, you're close enough to let a spar from Noriko's body gap over to yours. It's a bit stronger than being static-shocked, but not enough to make anything go numb just yet. It does, however, result in Noriko waking up with a startled yell and scrambling back and away.

Please God, let her be--oh. Sariel lets out an audible sigh of relief. "Dieu merci." That's just above a whisper, and said hastily as she's dropping to a crouch at Nori's side, but Leela might still catch it. "We need to get her out of here."

What's more, they just plain need to get out of here, all three of them. Leela knows this. Sariel knows Leela knows this. What's more, Sariel's not speaking as if giving orders; what she's said is simply true. Urgent, but true.

... Oh, no. Forget moving in close. Sariel's startled back to her feet as Nori yells, barely repressing a yelp of her own as the unfamiliar girl scrambles away. That laser hits the floor again, though thankfully it doesn't come near the Hellboy-created crater, and both hands lift, palms visible. "Hold it, hold it. We're not going to hurt you."

She almost, but not quite, says 'we're Starfleet'.

Leela recoils at the shock. That one hurt plenty - like taking an electrical socket out the wrong way (not that Leela would know what that felt like).

She raises her hands in the same manner Sariel has.

"We are here to help. We've come to get you out of here."

Well, at least they're talking. And Noriko isn't mute--she can talk just fine, when she hasn't had the living daylights scared out of her more times in one day than she has years under her belt. Unfortunately given the circumstances, her remembrance to be polite has gone right out the window.

"...Jesus what the hell is going on around here?"

"I don't entirely know," Sariel admits without hesitation, hands still raised. "You were briefly knocked unconscious, and that--what was that creature? fell through the floor after I tried to destabilize part of it beneath it."

The details of the last minute or two can't hurt, or at least, Sariel's hoping they can't.

"The thin creature who has been haunting Milliways has brought you here," Leela says. "Though I have not yet seen it in here.

"I do not know what it wants, but if you don't want to find out, you had best come with us."

She watches them warily for a long time, before climbing to her feet carefully, ignoring as best she can the spars and electric pops that happen every time she comes into contact with anything metal or particularly conductive.

"...Okay. Do you guys know what it is?"

"That's all the information I have," Sariel agrees. "A forgotten, malevolent tree god. I don't know anything more."

She's keeping her hands in plain sight and her movements deliberate, including her eventual reach for that dropped laser. It's held in her off hand (her arm's still throbbing, but that's not important now) while her dominant hand remains empty. Where the light she'd been carrying initially went, it's hard to say--oh, wait.

That's one very broken torch. Ooh. She'll carry what's left of it out with her - deal with it later. Once they're in relative safety.

Nori's quiet for a while. She's either still freaked out about all of this--likely--or trying to string words together to form a coherent sentence that isn't made entirely of curse words--less likely, but equally plausible.

"...The fuck. A tree god." This amounts to a rather large 'fucking Milliways' lesson she really could have dealt without having. "You know what, I don't care, I don't want to know--just out. Get me out of here, take me with you."

"Absolutely," Sariel says, immediately, firmly. "Are you able to walk out?" These things bear asking.

Her glance flicks from Nori to Leela to the doorway, then to the hole in the floor, just briefly. She's ready if they are. Very.

"Screw that," Nori mutters. "Just go fast."

She doesn't care right this moment if any more holes open up in the floor. As long as she's not standing in one--or even if she is, and can get out of it--she'll be fine.

Sariel nods, but from the glance she gives that hole in the floor in turn, and the careful way she starts to navigate around it, it looks as if she's inclined to agree with Leela. Once they're past the rent in the architecture she'll pick up the pace, though.

Another person might say something emphatic (let's get out of here!) but Sariel's silent, and as watchful as she can be with a broken torch.

Next stop, somewhere that isn't this... nightmare abandoned whatever this is.
